Try Tri Earrings

I succumbed to temptation and picked up some earring from Sulu Designs over on Etsy. I’ve purchased some of her designs before. I really love how simple and light weight they are. Plus, aren’t they just the perfect shade of blue?

Literary Fashion

I am a huge nerd. I LOVE to read. I thoroughly enjoy telling everyone what I am reading, getting suggestions from others what to read next, and talking about books in general. That’s why I am so wanting to rock some of these literary tees. What better way to show what books you are interested in? (It’s great that they use the vintage cover art.)

I might have to pick up a tee or two from here. Its stock is full of philosophers, playwrights, poets, novelists and political scribes (such as the Founding Fathers.) I’m thinking Tolkien or Vonnegut would be sweet.

This site is also great! Baseball jerseys for characters from classic novels and for the authors who wrote them. There are two "Moby Dick" shirts – one for Ahab and one for the whale! My favorite is Hester Prynne.

Baggu Duck Bag

I know that I am already over capacity in the bag department, but check out the new duck bag by Baggu! I think it would make a great book bag, a market carry-all, the perfect everyday tote. I love how you can carry in your hand, on your shoulder or across your chest. It made of 100% recycled cotton canvas and only costs $18! Mama wants!

Well hello, Lonny!

As you know, I was devestated when CondeNast canceled the publishing of my beloved Domino magazine. I feel like it truly left a void that as yet to be filled in the design magazine genre. Luckily, I think that we have been rescued! Behold: Lonny Magazine. Lonny had been created from those geniuses that were at Domino. The premiere issue has just been published on line. Please, please, please check it out!

Hunter Clogs

It is raining cats and dogs today. Wouldn’t it be so much fun to be splashing about the puddles in these adorable Hunter clogs? I have a pair of their rain boots, which I adore, but they can be a bit stuffy and a pair to put on. I think that these would be great to slip into for a trip to the gym or to run errands. Perhaps they could be a Happy Autumn gift to myself?

(9/24) UPDATE: Shawn surprised me tonight by bringing home a pair of these in red!! I have the best hubby ever!

Sheldon Shirts

Tonight is the season finale of The Big Bang Theory. For those who don’t watch the show, it is about two Caltech prodigies in their twenties, one an experimental physicist (Leonard) and the other a theoretical physicist (Sheldon), who live across the hall from an attractive blonde waitress with show-biz aspirations (Penny). Two equally geeky friends of theirs, Howard and Rajesh, are also main characters. It is a funny little show that does quite well at poking fun a geekiness as pop culture. I absolutely love the Star Wars and comic book references. Not to mention the costume designer is genius! I absolutely love the t-shirts Sheldon wears and often find myself thinking “Wear can I find me one of those cool robot tees?” Well, I’ve been answered! Check out this site called Sheldon Shirts.

Idle time leads to Etsying

Today has been a lazy day. More rain, so the hubby and I are staying inside. Read all three of the papers this morning with some delicious coffee. Then we have been puttering about the house. I read some of my new knitting books and have decided that I am going to start that baby blanket project this week. I also did some internetting, which led me to Etsy, which led me to purchases. ;0)

I picked up these pretty red earrings from Sulu. Aren’t they great? I think that they’ll be perfect for summer. Just the right pop of color. Plus they were only $12! Woo hoo!

I also picked up a lovely, handmade knitting needle organizer from sarahkincheloe, isn’t it sweet? I have been looking for something where I can stash my growing collection of knitting needles and assorted notions. I have seen other needle rolls in stores and online, but they were either ugly, too bulky, or not large enough. This is perfect because it has a gazillion pockets for everything. Straight needles, DPNs, and even circulars. Yeah!

Baggu Me!

Last week I finally broke down and ordered me some Baggus, reusable shopping bags made out of rip-stop nylon. (Such a fun word to say . . . Baggu!) I have been coveting them since a very fashionable, eco-conscious friend of mine showed me hers. They come in super cute colors and fold up in a tiny little packet so they are easy to toss in a purse or pocket. They are also HUGE! I was so surprised how much they held and how easy/comfortable they are to carry. I am so excited to use them when we go to the Dane County Farmer’s Market and also for my weekly trip to Brennan’s to restock on the produce and cheese.

So cool!

This is one of those reasons why I sometimes wished I lived in New York. There is an exhibit that is currently going on at The Metropolitan Museum of Art that I would LOVE to see. “Superheros: Fashion and Fantasy” It is exhibiting actual costumes of superheroes from the movies as well fashion designs that were inspired by them through the years. It sounds like a fascinating show that would be a lot of fun to see. The above article is very interesting as well. It explains the theory behind the show and also goes in depth in the eight different “bodies” that are represented in both the superhero genre and in fashion.

Now all I need is to find a pair of Wonder Woman UnderRoos!
