101 Things: 1. Go to Hoopla

hoopla-header

A few weeks ago, I attended Stella & Dot’s national sales conference in Orlando. It’s called Hoopla and I can definitely say it lived up to its name. Imagine over 3000 women getting together to learn, celebrate, and support one another. It was such a great experience and so much fun! While at Hoopla, the new fall line kicked off with an amazing fashion show, we learned about a new collaboration with the non-profit organization, Every Mother Counts, and we had tons of great training on how to build our business.

I was truly amazed at the sense of camaraderie and friendship among my fellow stylists. It felt more like a family reunion/wedding reception than a work conference. What struck me is the lack of competition and cattiness. Everyone is so supportive and welcoming and wanting to help you be the best you can. Pretty great stuff, considering that sometimes women can than gracious in that area.

I could bore you with all the details, but I think I’ll just give you my big take away and share what my new goals have become for this adventure.

1. I’ve realized that I have really missed my Stella & Dot business these past months while dealing with the move and living with my parents. It motivates, challenges, and thrills me in a way that can’t be replicated by being a mother and wife. It helps me remember who I am as a person and makes me better in other areas of my life.

2. I need to get over being afraid and making excuses. I’ve been holding myself back by using this move and relocation as a reason that I am not succeeding in my business. I have to make it a priority because I will only get out of it what I put in it.

3. I am setting a goal of having 15 trunk shows and building a team to gain the rank of STAR stylist by the end of 2014. This is huge, but they say that if you’re goals don’t scare you, they aren’t big enough!***

***This is going to be a lot of work, luckily I have the world’s best support/cheerleader with Shawn. I couldn’t even dream of this without him.

Outfitted: Night & Day

Night & Day
Since I have a very limited wardrobe right now (about 85% of my wardrobe is in storage) I’ve been having to make my clothes do double duty. I’ve been able to make this work by getting some basics that I can dress up or down depending on the occasion.

Instagram Challenge #31daysofstelladot Pt. 2

Here’s the second installment of my Instagram Challenge. The first batch you can see here. I’ve really been enjoying the challenge of coming up for me to  shoot every day. It has made me a bit more thoughtful curating my wardrobe and helped me realize that I often repeat the same outfit or have different versions of the same look. Stripes, anyone? I find some comfort in know that I have a fairly definitive look, but at the same time realize that I need to brach out a bit more think outside of the box. Also, I really need to get some new clothes for Spring! Anyways, here’s the second batch:

Instagram Challenge #31daysofstelladot

For those of you that follow me on Instagram, you might have noticed that I’ve been posting photos each day as part of a Stella & Dot challenge for March. It’s under  #31daysofstelladot  Its been a lot of fun and a bit of a stretch for me shoot something every day. I usually have some Stella & Dot piece as part of my daily wardrobe, but styling it in a way that is photo-friendly is sometimes a challenge. I hope that I’ll see some improvement by the end of the month. Here’s what I’ve done so far:

Outfitted: Hints of Spring

Hint of Spring
Either the calendar is lying and it’s really January instead of March, or Old Man Winter has decided to long overstay his welcome. I’m search if signs of Spring everywhere. Unfortunately, any that are out there are covered in snow. That’s why I’m incorporating some hints of green into my wardrobe. Maybe Mother Nature with finally decide to do the same.

Outfitted: Chiberia Chic

Chiberia Chic

Chicago has welcomed me with open arms and arctic temperatures. When I do actually  venture out into the polar vortex, I’m attempting to keep it a little stylish while not becoming a frostbitten fashionista. Keep warm everyone!

November’s Birchbox

This Month's Box

  • Vasanti Brighten Up! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator – This  exfoliator mimics the results of professional microdermabrasion, minus the potential for redness and sensitivity. Papaya enzymes break down dead cells while evening out your skin tone. Dermatologist-approved microderm crystals fade the appearance of fine lines and acne scars, leaving skin smooth and free of imperfections. Finally, aloe vera, coconut, and vitamins B and E nourish and soothe skin.
  • Tiossan Body Cream – This nonsticky lotion will keep your skin supple and scented from head to toe. A moisturizing blend of organic black seed oil, organic aloe vera, and organic shea butter turns dryness into a distant memory. I loved the lotion, but I would definitely go with  a different scent. I received Fatale, while described as having “notes of bergamot and patchouli over spicy vanilla, rose, and chocolate” smelled stale and old-ladyish.
  • Laura Mercier Lip Glacé – This lip glaze is a blend of moisturizing, antiaging, and antioxidant agents, that hydrates and conditions. The light formula goes on evenly and won’t bleed or feather, keeping you all-day chic. I received Opal, a light peachy-beige, and it is THE best nude shade I have ever tried on. I will buy this in bulk!
  • Eyeko Black Magic Mascara – The sickle-shaped wand creates the perfect amount of curl, with a thick, rounded brush to fully coat lashes, and the water-resistant formula lasts for 12 hours. I liked how it wasn’t too clumpy or thick and the curved brush was a breeze to use.
  • Lifestyle Bonus Freebie: Ahmad Teas – Ahmad’s teas come in a variety of mouthwatering flavors: Peach & Passionfruit and Mango Magic, Apricot Sunrise and Blackcurrant Burst, Peppermint & Lemon Herbal, Mixed Berries & Hibiscus Herbal, and Raspberry Indulgence Fruit Tea. I’m saving this for a cold winter’s day.

Outfitted: Fall Friday Night

Fall Friday Night
The temperature has dropped and its time for the blustery, cold end of Autumn. As the days get shorter and the temperatures drop, it’s time to pull out the cozy sweaters and scarves and dust off the all-weather outerwear. Thank goodness staying warm and dry is still fashionable this season.

Outfitted: Tailgate Party

Chicago Bears Tailgate
This weekend we’ll be headed to Chicago to visit my parents and attend my uncle’s annual Chicago Bears tailgate party. I’m super excited to go, it’s my first time! We always seem to have plans or can’t make it into town. Most of the party will be outside, so I’m going for comfy, warmth while still showing my Chicago pride. Throw in a few cute accessories from Stella & Dot in the team colors to girl it up a bit. Go Bears!!

  • Klorane Shampoo with Desert Date – Desert dates from the Sahel region of Africa are de-pulped and hand ground to infuse dry hair with much-needed moisture. Gentle cleansing agents clean your hair without harmful parabens or silicones. Meh.
  • Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser Starter Kit – This cleansing kit gently remove all traces of dirt, grime, and makeup (yes, even your waterproof, wear-all-day, no-flake mascara and eyeliner) and thanks to the ingenious muslin cloth included in this kit, it also sweeps away dulling dead skin cells. Your complexion is left smoothed, soothed and radiant-looking.
  • POP Beauty Aqua Laquer –  This sample knocked it out of the park for me. I received Flowering Fushia – a super bright pink in the tube – but when applied it added a wash of sheer color and a high dose of shine, without that goopy, sticky feeling we all know too well. It lasted for HOURS and had a faint, minty taste. The unique spatula-like applicator brush made it easy to apply and gave me more control than any other gloss I’ve tried.
  • Birchbox Bonus: ChapStick Hydration Lock – A new take on the original, this new innovation from ChapStick has been clinically proven to hydrate lips, the eight-hour balm also comes packed with antioxidant CoQ10 and healing vitamin E. With just one swipe, our pout can withstand an entire day without reapplication.
